This area in the city centre is a place to relax and a place for outdoor exhibitions and performances. It’s sort of the heart of the main shopping area. We enjoyed just sitting around here and watching the world go by. The surrounding area is packed with all the shops you could ever need both on the streets and in Malls. This is an extract from our free San Francisco City Guide.
You’ll often find some kind event in Union Square, like the art fair pictured above, but even when there is no event being held, it’s still busy with activity. You’ll find a cafes here and tables to sit out at, whilst you watch the world bustle around you. You’ll also find street entertainers here too. One way to get to Union Sqaure is to take this San Francisco Hop-on, Hop-off Bus Tour which stops in the square and also includes a trip to Alcatraz!
