Royal Liver Building 360 is an interactive guided tour of one of the most iconic buildings in Liverpool. This structure is topped with huge ‘Liver Birds’ and can be seen all over the city. It’s one of the so-called ‘three graces’ which are the three statement buildings sitting next to each other at Pier Head. The tour includes a climb to the top of one of the impressive towers for stunning views of Liverpool and an audio-visual show which takes place behind the clock faces. Your guide will meet you in the exhibition centre, which is well worth a look even if you’re not taking the tour. It explains the history of the building and has some photos of its construction. After a bizarre health and safety video, your tour begins. We thought the guide was excellent and really knowledgeable. She encouraged questions and was able to answer them all with ease. A lot is made of the number of stairs you will have to climb. Don’t be put off by this as they are taken in stages and most of your journey will be in a lift. The first stop is a viewing area beneath the clocks, then you will climb some stairs to a room which is located directly behind the clock faces. Here, you get to see a video show about Liverpool, it’s culture and the Royal Liver Building. We loved it!

Next, you climb more steps to the tower top. This is the smallest of the steps you climb, the rest are not unlike your stairs at home. You can’t really see the ‘Liver Bird’ above you but you get a good view of the one on the opposite tower. The main activity on this deck is to look at the views in all directions. There are helpful plaques which point out all the Liverpool landmarks. The views are superb and we felt we were given enough time to really take in each vista and take photos. We really enjoyed the Royal Liver Building 360 tour and would definitely recommend it. It offered unique views of Liverpool and a fascinating insight into one of its most famous buildings. It’s best to think of it as a ‘tower tour’ as you don’t see anything else of the building. That’s because it’s mainly rentable office space inside.

The Royal Liver Building 360 tour operates Thursday to Sunday hourly with the first tour at 9am and the last at 4.30pm. Adult tickets cost £17.50 (2025 prices).
